Cung... read more was a great guide, kind, caring, considerate and knowledgable, enjoyed spending time with him and a little sad to say goodbye. At turtle beach we saw a female Green turtle laying eggs before covering her nest and making her way back into the sea, then the next morning got to release newly hatched turtles into the sea, not just watching but actually given around 20 turtles each to release. Something else to see the animal instinct of a one day old hatchling make their way into the crashing surf. Next day to ijen for a dawn descent into the crater. No words to describe the range of sights, sounds, smells and emotions involves, just do it, and do it with a guide, both for the safety, but also for the wealth of information that you cannot read

I unfortunately forgot the name of our tourguide but he was amazing!! He was a former worker at the sulfur mining, so he knew a lot about the area and the people working there. You should never miss ijen if your in jawa! We saw the blue fire and amazing landscapes! We felt very safe and the tourguide was always looking after us. We learned a lot about the sulfur mining and with taking the tour you really help people to get out of the really bad working conditions of sulfur mining. We would really recommend you to ask Benn (the host) and your tourguide about his story and his work, it was very interesting to hear and learn about the sulfur mining. So the money you spend for the tour helps him with his charity work!
The service was really good, pick up and drop off worked all good and the waterfall after the ijen hike was really refreshing!

The highlight was our amazing and humble tour guide Cung who was a wonderful and kind person and very knowledgeable about Ijen and the local area. He looked after us, told us stories about the volcano and the miners (him and his dad being miners). He kept us safe and gave us the best advice when going down into the crater. We really enjoyed seeing his local village and learning about his culture and seeing the rice paddies, coffee and rubber plantations. We loved every moment and sad it has come to an end.   We went on a trip from Bali to Java and visited Ijen and Bromo! We had the best tour guide you can imagine. He waited for us at the harbour... read more in Ketapang with his driver to pick us up. Mr Paing (our guide) is a reliable and funny guy, he waited 6 hours to pick us up, because our bus got stuck! The organisation of the trip was perfect. We stopped for lunch, our car was very comfy and Mr Paing took care of our needs (was always searching for vegetarian food for example). We felt really safe during the trip and Mr Paing has a big heart and a lot of humor. On top of that he knows secret stops even in the touristic places on Ijen and Bromo. He is still working at the miner at Ijen and knows a lot about it. It seems like he is loving his job as a tour guide. Also our driver was really good and we felt so safe driving with him!

During all the journey we could decide where to stop, when to eat... and the jeep part was amazing while driving in the jungle!! It was really amazing.
Once in Sukamade we were lucky to see a big turtle, how she layed the eggs and emjoy the explanations of the rangers of the sanctuary!

Our driver Aziz did an amazing job navigating the difficult... read more roads here in Java. They customised the trip to pick us up from the airport in Surabaya and drove us across Java and ended the tour in Banyuwangi where we would sail to Bali ending our adventure. The trip it self where amazing and the hotels where good.

Both the volcanos offered phenomal views, as well as insights on how the sulfur miners worked on Ijin.
Hasyim started by pointing out, that he was not our guide and not our friends, but he was family! This was clear in the way he wanted us the best. Since i eat a plant based diet, it was somewhat difficult to navigate the menu cards but Hasyim helped communicate my wishes to make sure i got some food!
Aziz our driver was the most focused driver i have seen, making sure we all got to locations safely.
